Summer Program for Aspiring Resilient Kids

S.P.A.R.K (Summer Program for Aspiring Resilient Kids) Youth Program: 

A summer youth program with a work-study component for a 100-clock-hour Nurse Assistant Program divided over June to August, with sessions held twice a week for 2.5 hours each day, targeted towards 11th-grade students aged 17 and up. This will be beneficial for students who were not accepted into the local school based programs for various reasons such as low GPA, absences, behaviors etc.  

Program Overview:

Name: S.P.A.R.K (Summer Program for Aspiring Resilient Kids)

Duration: June  to August  (approximately 10 weeks)

Frequency:  2 days per week ( Tuesdays and Thursdays)

Time:  2:30pm to 5:00pm 

Session Duration: 2.5 hours per day

Total Clock Hours: 100 hour


Eligibility Requirements:

  • Participants must be current 11th-grade students.
  • Participants must be 17 years old at the time of enrollment.
  • Participants must demonstrate a commitment to healthcare and interest in becoming an Healthcare Professional  
  • 2.0 GPA requirement
  • Admission Essay

Program Components:

1. Classroom Instruction (40 hours):

  • Covers essential topics in healthcare, including basic anatomy, physiology, infection control, patient care techniques, and communication skills.
  • Taught by qualified instructors with experience in nursing education.
  • Interactive sessions including lectures, group discussions, and hands-on activities.

2. Practical Skills (20 hours)

  • Classroom-based skill development

3. Clinical Externship Training (40 hours):

  • Provides hands-on experience in a real healthcare setting, such as a nursing home or hospital.
  • Participants work under the supervision of licensed healthcare professionals to apply the knowledge and skills learned in the classroom.
  • Emphasizes professionalism, patient care, and teamwork.

Program Schedule:

  • June: Orientation, introduction to basic healthcare concepts, initial clinical training, and work study placement.
  • July: Continued classroom instruction, hands-on practice, and work-study evaluation.
  • August:Final clinical training, review sessions, externship, and preparation for certification exam.

Program Fees:

Participants are required to pay a non-refundable deposit (DP) to secure their spot in the program of $100.00  the cost of the program for Horry and Georgetown county students will be $990.00

  • Payment Option #1: 
    • Weekly out-of-pocket payment plans available for students who choose to opt out of the work-study program.
    • Refer to the enrollment agreement below for details.
  • Payment Option #2: Work-Study (20 hours):
    • Participants engage in work-study opportunities to gain practical experience and earn income.
    • Work-study placements may include assisting in healthcare facilities, clinics, or community organizations.
    • Participants receive mentorship and guidance from experienced professionals in the field.
